Most visitors to Manuel Antonio experience the park during the day, and it's remarkable. But the rainforest at night is an entirely different world. The same trails you walked in daylight are transformed: the air is filled with the sounds of tree frogs, cicadas, and night birds, and the beam of your guide's torch illuminates creatures invisible during the day.
Red-eyed tree frogs (Costa Rica's iconic species) emerge from their daytime hiding spots. Sleeping birds perch motionless on branches. Boa constrictors and other snakes become active hunters. Kinkajous move through the canopy. Dozens of insect species carpet every surface.
Our ICT-certified night tour guides know exactly where to look, and more importantly, how to approach wildlife safely and respectfully. Most guests say it was the part of their trip they didn't expect to love most.
